This study examines witch leadership tools the platoon leader could use to motivate and maintain specialists in his platoon. Its normal for the platoon leader to have a higher proficiency then his men in his platoon. But when you work with specialists, they often have a high expertise, that you as a platoon leader should and must use to get the best result. The study uses Daniel Pinks 3.0 motivation theory to analyse if specialist gets motivated by what he proclaims. To get another angle on what motivates specialist Hersey and Blanchard's situational leadership theory, that explains which leadership styles that a leader should use on his personal to motivate them the most. As empirical there have been made tree qualitative interviews and one strict questionnaire with tree platoon leader and one section leader from specialists’ platoons in the Danish Engineer Regiment in Skive. To examine the problem definition the theory and empiri have been analysed and discussed. This study shows that to motivate specialists you should have a very diplomatic leading style, you should be participatory and delegated assignments to your specialists. And it’s also important to assign the right tasks and to continually develop on your specialists. And you need to make a purpose for your specialists. This study shows is a whole variety of leadership tools that you can use to motivate and maintain your specialists in your unit.
